What are Verrucas and Warts?

Veruccas and warts are common skin conditions that usually affect the feet. They are caused by a virus which is transferred through direct contact with someone who has them. The virus can enter the skin via small cuts on the feet which then causes an infection leading to warts or veruccas on your foot.

The symptoms of veruccas and warts are usually painless, but they can also cause itchiness, burning sensation, and bleeding. These symptoms may vary depending on the type of wart or verucca but our team at Absolute Foot Care can identify and treat your foot condition with the best practice.

As science goes there is currently no cure for verruccas and warts but don’t worry as there are treatments that can help remove them from the body. It’s common practice for Podiatrists to recommend treatments such as cryotherapy, laser therapy, electrocautery, surgical removal or topical treatments such as salicylic acid but we will identify the best solution and guide you through the process.


How to prevent Warts and Verrucas:

· Wash your feet daily

· Wear flip flops in communal showers

· Avoid contact with greasy and oily substances

· Protect your skin from sun using moisturisers and sunscreens

· Avoid friction and pressure on the skin

· Do not touch, prick, or scratch the affected area

· Shower after strenuous activities
